Top 5

5.
Album: It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back
Artist: Public Enemy
Year: 1988
Why: It was extremely influential. The album's mix of The Bomb Squad's dense, sample-heavy production (about 40 samples per track!) and Chuck D's politically charged lyrics turned the album into a sensation. Several critics regard this as the greatest hip-hop album of all time including Vibe Magazine.
4.
Album: Illmatic
Artist: Nas
Year: 1994
Why: If you havent at least heard this album once, you are not a hip-hop fan. When this album came out it changed the entire face of hip-hop and gave the west coast a run for their money. Nas hasnt been able to top this album, and sadly he may never will. So what if there are only 10 tracks, each are the equivalent to an delacacy at a fancy restaurant.

3.
Album: The Chronic
Artist: Dr. Dre
Year: 1992
Why: The epitamy of a west coast gangsta album. There isnt one track on this album worth skipping. Even George Clinton himself admitted this album beat earlier hip-hop like KRS-One, Kool G Rap, and even Rakim. Several sources claim this is the greatest hip-hop album ever without argument. Plus this was one of (or maybe the) first album to have a melody over lyrical gangbanging. This is unanimously the greatest west coast album evar!
2.
Album: Paid in Full
Artist: Eric B & Rakim
Year: 1987
Why: It pretty much changed the whole style of hip-hop and was one of the defenitive albums of the Golden Age (1984-1993). This album is a must for hip-hop heads and why not. It had some of the greatest beats ever produced and some of the sickest lyrics ever spitted. Like "It's been a long time/ I shouldnt have left you", "I got soul/ that's why i came", and "Thinking of a Master Plan". Each track was priceless and worth listening to. Coutless fans of hip-hop have credited this to be the greatest rap album of all time.
1.
Album: Life After Death
Artist: The Notorious B.I.G.
Year: 1997
Why: While Ready to Die was a ground breaking album. Life After Death proved that Biggie was one of, if not, the most talented mc ever. Even though in all there are 24 tracks. Not one isnt a keeper. The album had something for everybody. Club Bangers (Hypnotize), Love Ballads (Fuck You Tonight), Dark Mafioso Stories (Niggas Bleed), Songs about Cash (I Love the Dough), and even a West Coast tribute (Going Back to Cali) and a track where he even sang (Playa Hater). Big proved he could spit fire over anything and everything. The album even had top notch producers such as the RZA, DJ Premier, Clark Kent, Mobb Deep's Havoc and the old school go-to producer, Easy Moe Bee! And the album was a complete success. It was one of the only 4 hip-hop albums to go Diamond. It was arguably the last "classic" hip-hop album to come out before the days of No Limit Records, and the Shiny Suit era. That's why Life After Death is the Greatest Hip-Hop Album of All Time.

Top 10 (10-6)

10.
Album: Radio
Artist: LL Cool J
Year: 1985
Why: Hip-Hop wouldnt be where it is today without Uncle L's wordplay on this album. Plus Rick Rubin's timeless beats on tracks like "Rock the Bells".
9.
Album: Resurrection
Artist: Common Sense
Year: 1994
Why: It's safe to say that Common is in a league of his own. Who else at the time could have made a girl a metaphor for hip-hop. And several sources and fans call "I Used to Love H.E.R." the greatest hip-hop single of all time. And he was probably the first major MC from the midwest. And Resurrection is full proof why there never was and will be a rapper quite like him.

8.
Album: Reasonable Doubt
Artist: Jay-Z
Year: 1996
Why: Even though it flopped when it was released, the album became one of the most influental mafioso albums ever. Even to this day, rappers are trying to duplicate it. From a strong chorus from Mary J. Blige to a few verses from the great Biggie Smalls, this album had something for everyone. And hip-hop is still "Feelin' it" to this day.

7.
Album: Straight Outta Compton
Artist: NWA
Year: 1988
Why: This album created a major turning point in the rap industry. It boasted that Los Angeles wanted a piece of the pie known as hip-hop. And they wanted to do it their own way; through criticizing the government and the po-po's. Half of today's rappers use these guy's formula to make hits. But they can never ever do it like Dre, Cube, Yella, Ren, and Eazy.
6.
Album: Enter the Wu Tang (36 Chambers)
Artist: Wu Tang Clan
Year: 1993
Why: They pretty much revitalized the state of east coast hip-hop through the power of kung fu! It led the way for such artists as Nas, Jay-Z, and the Notorious B.I.G. They used lyrics and subject matter that an MC had never used before. And it was all done over RZA's classic beats.

Top 25 Hip-Hop Albums of All Time!

Since most of the albums that have been released this year have totally sucked donkey dongz (excluding Red Gone Wild). And guys like Al Sharpton, Oprah, and that racist Bill O'Reilly are on the war path against hip-hop. I think Nas foretold this when he released 'Hip-Hop is Dead'. Which in my prediction, may be the "Last Great Hip-Hop Album". So like several of my fellow hip-hop bloggers have done (Bol, Billy Sunday, Straight Bangin' and craploads more), I will list my choice for the top 25 hip-hop albums. In fact, I think i came up with this idea before anyone did, but no i am not taking credit for starting this fad. I stalled. And i posted the list on my Roosterteeth page (Myspace for Halo fans). But only members of that site could read. So I am now going to publicly release the 25 top albums. For that matter, I have removed and added a few albums after reading other bloggers' lists. I based this list off of several factors: influence, lyricism, production, mainstream appeal, reviews, and sales.

25. Eminem- The Marshall Mathers LP
24. Mobb Deep- The Infamous
23. The Fugees- The Score
22. Snoop Dogg- Doggystyle
21. Run DMC- Raising Hell
20. GZA- Liquid Swords
19. Ice Cube- Amerikkka's Most Wanted
18. LL Cool J- Mama Said Knock You Out
17. 2pac- All Eyez on Me
16. Raekwon- Only Built 4 Cuban Linx
15. Boogie Down Productions- Criminal Minded
14. A Tribe Called Quest- The Low End Theory
13. Outkast- Aquemini
12. Ice Cube- Death Certificate
11. The Notorious B.I.G.- Ready to Die

Note: why is Ready to Die at #11? Well originally, there were 2 Biggie albums on the top ten. I felt like that didnt make it fair for other albums. I chose to take Ready to Die off because I believe that Biggie got more and more experience by each year. Ready to Die was a classic album. But in my opinion, not as classic as Life After Death.

I'll post the top 10 in a new journal.

It Has Begun...

Hello there. And welcome to THIFUBAR (The System is FUBAR). This is a blog site created my myself to go over major dealings in my world; we will get to this in a second. My name is classified. I am going by Damnation on account that I am an Atheist. I am 19 years old as of May 2nd, 2007. I live in Denver CO. And I am currently working out of my trashy bedroom (it's a living). This is what I will be talking about on this site.

Movies
Video Games
Music (Preferably Hip-Hop)
Current Events
Politics (Warning: I lean toward the left)
Internet Memes (see websites like 4chan, Enciclopedia Dramatica, and Something Awful for what I am talking about.)
And other stuff that I find amusing.

FAQ (Because all websites need one):

"What is FUBAR": For those of you who have not seen war films such as "Saving Private Ryan", it stands for "Fucked Up Beyond All Recognition".

"Will I piss people off": Most likely, yes. But thats okay. We are all entitled to our opinions. If you have a problem with me, please comment. I am open to discussion.

"Why did I start this Site": Because I felt like my opinion on various matters needed to be heard or at least heard and ignored. I also find bloggers such as Byron Crawford
(http://www.byroncrawford.com/) and other notable hip-hop bloggers to be a major inspiration.

"What will be going on on this site": Well basically, I rant and rave in a post and you; the reader will post your opinions on the matter. And on every Friday I will post a Weekend Poll. The poll could be about any type of subjest from Music, Politics, or just the flat outragous. I feel we all have opinions on things and this should be a place where we can express them.

Note: I tend to be sarcastic so if you see something that is contradicting to what I have said earlier, it is probably sarcasm.

Also. I may not post a new journal everyday. And I tend to procrastinate. I may say I will get something done by a certain time. Dont believe it! It may take a few days to even a few months for it to happen.

Legal Issues: If I do something that is somewhat controversial and may result in frivulous litigation, then email me at http://www.ThingAlec@aol.com and I will be glad to discuss what the problem is. I do not plan of being a problem to anybody and will do what must be done to avoid conrontation.

So relax, enjoy, grab a blunt or a cup of coffee or whatever, and read away!
